How to Buy Car Phone Mounts Wholesale (Without Getting Burned)

Car phone mounts are a forgiving first category: low unit cost, no expiry, no size matrix, and demand that does not depend on fashion. But the difference between a profitable first container and a warehouse of returns is entirely in the sourcing steps below.
1. Understand MOQ and tiered pricing
Our standard MOQ is 200 pcs per model, with three price tiers:

Models can be mixed in one shipment, so you can test five SKUs at 200 pcs each rather than betting 1,000 pcs on one.
2. Sample before you commit
Order samples of every shortlisted model. Test them on the phones and in the cars your market actually uses — a mount that grips an iPhone perfectly may slip on a curved-back Android, and one that holds on a flat dash may fail on a textured one. Sample lead time is 3–5 days.
3. Specify OEM and packaging early
- Logo — pad print, laser or moulded into the shell.
- Colour — standard black, or a custom Pantone from 1,000 pcs.
- Retail box — custom artwork, barcode, manual language.
- Private mould — from roughly 10,000 pcs, for a truly exclusive shape.
4. Lock the QC standard in writing
- Pull-force test on magnetic models (≥ 800 g).
- 5,000 cycle test on clamp arms.
- −20 °C to 70 °C storage test on plastic parts.
- 1 m six-face carton drop test.
- Charging output measured at 25 °C and 45 °C on charging SKUs.
5. Certificates and freight
Ask for CE, RoHS and FCC documents, plus UN38.3 and an MSDS if the SKU contains a lithium cell. Express suits samples and small restocks; air freight suits 200–800 kg; sea freight is the only sensible option for a full container. Production lead time is 7–15 working days after deposit.
